The Special Events team develops, coordinates, stages and manages quality entertainment programs to include: fairs, holiday activities, concerts and much more. These programs are designed to improve the quality of life within our Fort Sam Houston MWR community.

Post Wide Events

Fiesta & Fireworks
Fort Sam Houston is proud to be a part of San Antonio's annual Fiesta celebration during April. We offer a family friendly atmosphere and invite the public to celebrate Fiesta with games, festive foods, live entertainment and an extravagant firework finale! Admission & Parking are Free!

Oktoberfest & Fall Fest
Both events are held at the MacArthur Parade Field. Patrons of all ages from Fort Sam Houston, Lackland, Randolph and the surrounding community are invited to come out and enjoy some live entertainment, festive foods, and games. Admission & Parking are free!

Community Extravaganza Fair
The Community Extravaganza Fair is a quarterly event at the Golf Club. Whether relocating or re-connecting to Joint Base San Antonio, military families and DOD employees are invited to the Community Extravaganza Fair. The Community Extravaganza Fair joins military families with representatives from local businesses and activities on JBSA-Fort Sam Houston. Families will take home information on the Alamo City and JBSA.

Flea Market & Yard Sale
The post wide Flea Market & Yard Sale allows the Fort Sam Houston military community the opportunity to sell their personal owned household items. The Yard Sale is held biannually and gives patrons living on post the option of selling from their living quarters. Only DoD cardholders are allowed to sell at the flea market. Warehouse Cash & Carry Sale and Sealed Bid Sale
Preview: August 19 from 9am-2pm | Sale: August 20-21 from 9am-3pm

The 502 FSS, MWR Warehouse, located in Bldg 4192 Bay A, hosts a Cash & Carry Sale when a large collection has been turned in. The items sold are collected from MWR facilities and vary from items like:
Furniture   Tv's           Desks
Computers Chairs      Ovens
RefrigeratorTables      Shelves
Fry Station           And more.
All items are sold as is and purchased on a first come first serve basis. Items purchased must be removed from the warehouse at the time of sale. Accepted payment for purchases: cash. For more information call (210) 221-4449.

Annual Community Celebrations

Army Soldier Show
The Army Soldier Show is a live, high-energy musical performance "by Soldiers, for Soldiers." The show tours for six months, performing at over 100 installations throughout the US, Guam and the Republic of Korea.

Easter Egg Hunt
MWR patrons are invited to join us in an Easter Egg Hunt. Make sure to bring a basket or bag, the fields will be divided up for the different age groups (0 - 12).

Month of the Military Child
Children of U.S. Service members around the world will be honored throughout the month of April for their contributions to their families' well-being and sacrifices. There will be programs and activities planned for military children through out the month.

Military Spouse Appreciation Day
We take this day to acknowledge the significant contributions, support, and sacrifices of Military Spouses. Usually held on the Friday preceding Mother's Day, we salute you with a day just for you. Past celebrations have had vendors on-site to offer complementary facials, manicures, massages and more.

Summer Safety Day
This event will feature demonstrations to keep you and your family safe this summer. Information will be provided over responsible driving, water safety, heat exhaustion and more. There will also be free refreshments and other fun activities for kids of all ages.

Back to School Bash
Celebrate the last few days of summer and get ready for the new school year at the Back to School Bash! Past celebrations have included: food, music, school supplies and other goodies.

Holiday Tree Lighting
The Tree Lighting event kicks off the holiday celebrations on Fort Sam. Come watch as we flip the switch and enjoy a reading of the classic "The Night Before Christmas", hot refreshments, crafts, real snow and a visit from Santa!

Programs, facilities and services offered by the 502 FSS are open to all active military members and their family, reservists, Coast Guard and National Guard members, retirees, DOD civilian employees, DOD contracted employees unless otherwise stated.
